Electrical
Electricity, no matter how generated, powers all of today’s systems. The distribution of electrical energy has been “described and controlled”, by the IEE wiring regulations, virtually since it discovery by Fleming. Actually the first version of the regulations is attributed to the great man himself. Today however, these documents have been made legally mandatory by section P of the building regulations
Which means that with the exception of simple remedial work, any electrical work undertaken must be either reported to the authorities for inspection, or undertaken by a “suitably competent, registered person”. Which is why Merlin has its own registered, competent person in the shape of Terry. Terry is registered with NAPIT (National Association of Professional Inspection and Testers) and holds both domestic and industrial accreditation. He is also “Trust Mark” accredited.
Merlin believes that having its own registered installer affords its clients a significant advantage when installing systems. No delay in waiting for external contractors, no expensive site meetings with multiple suppliers, and no disputes over what/who issues. Ensuring “clean” power supplies with adequate capacity is a must, not only for complete computer rooms, but also for single ADSL routers, in order to prevent mysterious dropouts and communication failures.
Removing potentially hazardous daisy chained multi-outlet sockets not only goes a long way to reducing health and safety and fire risks but also contributes to a neat tidy office environment.
